Pacific Mama's Visit
The Pacific Mamas and Papa came to visit on Tuesday. We had a day filled with fun, laughter and learning. We learnt about their customs and culture though weaving, music,
Meeting the Mamas and learning to say hello in different languages. |
Weaving. The eel goes over, under and turns. |
We all had a go on the drums. Long ago drums were used to send messages. |

We are learning about different people from around the world and how they live. We are thinking about the different cultures in our own class and comparing how we are the same but different. Connor's grandma came to visit us recently. She is from Japan and she told us about Japanese culture.
This is Connor's grandmothers ceremonial kimono she wore for her Coming of Age celebration when she turned 20. In Japan they do not celebrate a child's birthday every year just certain years.
